Service Committee
There are two ways to help out Lutheran Community Services/Refugees NW this month:
1) The Angle Lake office is seeking volunteers to sort and pack food boxes, drive the center van, and do data entry on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Contact amendivil@lcsnw.org or visit the webpage for more information (just a few hours a week is great!),
2) The Tacoma Center is seeking donations of hygiene and kitchen items for newly arrived refugees. Check out the SEAPAX registry or put together a full kit and contact azaheer@lcsnw.org for pickup or delivery.

DEI Committee
As we turn our focus onto Pride month, explore a variety of stories from LGBTQIA+ volunteers in Peace Corps:
And, check out these parades and festivals within the Seattle area. Happy Pride Month!

Advocacy
May saw a new record with 43 U.S. senators signing onto the annual Peace Corps “Dear Colleague” letter, one more than the previous record of 42 signatories in 2020. Among those who signed onto the letter asking for a $20 million increase in Peace Corps funding was Washington’s Senator Maria Cantwell. Thank you, Senator Cantwell! Calls for increased support would go towards improving volunteer security, engaging in global health efforts, and broadening outreach and recruitment efforts.
