SEAPAX Open Board Positions for Non-Elected Positions

Would you like to get more involved with SEAPAX and with our local RPCV community? There is no better way to do this than to serve on our Board. The following are non-elected board positions that we would like to fill immediately:

SEAPAX Holiday Party

Join us for our annual end of the year/holiday party! This is typically our biggest event of the year. All are welcome, but be sure to RSVP. This year’s event will be hosted in the Greenwood neighborhood. Some street parking is available, but carpooling or public transportation is recommended. Please bring a food or drink item to share. We look forward to celebrating the holiday season together! See Grants blurb for Flash Giving details.

When: Saturday, December 14th
Time: 4-8 PM
Where: Private home in the Greenwood neighborhood. RSVP for the address.
RSVP: Please send the number of guests in your party
Potluck Item: Food or drink item. Bring a label and serving utensils.

Annual Contribution Campaign

It is the time of year that we ask for your help to support SEAPAX!

Our programs and activities are dependent on the financial contributions from our members. Programs and activities that we regularly offer include, but are not limited to: the grants program, Peace Corps advocacy work, an annual holiday party and picnic, camp outs, and social media platforms.

If you have not contributed to SEAPAX this year, please consider doing so at this time. We suggest a $15 annual contribution, but any level of support is appreciated. Online contributions can be made here.

Happy Hour

1st Wednesday HH: Nov. 6th and Dec. 4th for the monthly Pub Quiz at Canterbury Ales in Cap Hill, 534 15th Ave E at 7 PM.

3rd Wednesday HH: Nov. 20th at 5 PM at The Rendezvous, 2322 2nd Ave, Seattle. This will be the last Happy Hour of the year.

RSVP before noon the day of the event on Facebook or email so we can get enough seats.

Book Club

What do you want to read in 2020? Send us your book recommendations. Also, let us know if you are interested in serving as Book Club Chair.

HIGHLIGHTED EVENT:
Two Beers with Pangea Giving

Thursday, Nov. 7, 5:30–8 PM

Two Beers Brewing Co. 4700 Ohio Ave S, Seattle WA 98134

Join us for a SEAPAX-Pangea Happy Hour and learn how an international giving circle works and share your experiences and thoughts about what is needed in the countries and rural communities in which SEAPAX volunteers served and Pangea grant partners work. And enjoy a beer or two on us!

Pangea Giving is a Seattle-based giving circle that funds grassroots community projects in Latin America, East Africa, and Southeast Asia. Learn more on the website or asking a member on Thursday, November 7, 5:30–8 PM.

SEAPAX Grants Committee: Holiday Party Flash Giving

In the spirit of the season, the Grants Committee will have a donation jar to stuff with bill and coins. We will take your cash and give it in SEAPAX's name to a local organization doing good works.

Calendars are back!

Calendars will be available at SEAPAX events and via mail order for $15 dollars each. Purchase five or more at one time for $13 each. Proceeds support SEAPAX's small grants program.

Mt. Baker RPCV Potluck

The next Mt. Baker RPCV potluck will be Saturday, Nov. 16th at 6 PM at Heather H.'s house, 3510 Cody Avenue, Bellingham. There is ample parking on the street and in the driveway.

Charles Bailey will tell us about how his experience as a PCV in Nepal led to ten years with the Ford Foundation in Hanoi, where the foundation funded volunteers in Asia. This program brought young Americans to Vietnam for 1-2 year stints as English teachers.

RSVP to Heather by Nov. 13th. Remember your reusable plates, utensils, etc. and bring a casserole, salad, bread or dessert and something you like to drink.

PCC2020 Conference & Conference Planning Committee

Planning for the Peace Corps Connect 2020 Conference has begun! Expect to hear more details about the conference starting sometime in early 2020.

We can share with you now the dates and venue, which have been confirmed:

Date: July 16th - July 18th, 2020

Venue: University of Washington (Seattle campus)

We are still looking for people to join our Peace Corps Connect 2020 Conference Planning Committee. The best way to do this is to join one (or more) of our sub-committees:
