Annual Contribution Campaign
Please consider including SEAPAX in your end-of-year giving. Suspending our in- person events this year was the necessary response to the COVID-19 pandemic, but our members are still working hard to help us all stay connected via virtual platforms and new programs. Some highlights of the year include:
- Establishing a mentorship program to provide career assistance to evacuated and other RPCVs
- Creating a Diversity and Inclusion Committee to identify how SEAPAX can support Black and minority communities and other social justice movements
- Screening 'A Towering Task: The Story of the Peace Corps,' Alana DeJoseph's award-winning documentary, and hosting a virtual Q&A with the producer/director
- Supporting Board member elect John Berry to establish a collaboration between NPCA and Public Health - Seattle & King County to recruit and staff an RPCV COVID-19 contact tracing team
- Successfully registering SEAPAX as a 501(c)(3), meaning your donations are now fully tax-deductible
SEAPAX members represent past service in an astonishing 109 countries, from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe, ranging from Peace Corps' first year in 1961 to those evacuated in 2020. Our regular readers may recall in 2016 we moved to a dues-free membership model. We made this change in concert with a similar transition by NPCA to promote a broader, more diverse, and more inclusive community. But we still depend on your donations to fund our Small Grants programs and Advocacy work, as well as to cover website and newsletter costs. We suggest a $15 annual contribution, but any level of support is welcome. Thank you for your continued participation!
You can donate here.
Would you like to get more involved with SEAPAX and our local RPCV community? There is no better way to do this than to serve on our Board. We are looking to fill the following Board position:
- Secretary - Writes and maintains written records of organization, including, but not limited to: meeting agendas and minutes, official documents and correspondences, and an annual organizational report.
If you are interested and/or would like to learn more, please email us.

Advocacy
The Advocacy Team bids a fond farewell to Carlie Sulpizio who will be leaving the Puget Sound to begin a fellowship with the CDC in Bangkok. Carlie, you will be missed - you were always a joy to work with and your contributions to our advocacy work were significant, especially in the realm of social media.
Sad as we are to lose Carlie, we are pleased to welcome two new team members: Kenney Tran (Colombia 2018-2020) and Jerome Siangco (China 2019-2020). They have already been instrumental in organizing our two recent virtual legislative meetings, and given their energy, commitment, and talents, we anticipate next year will be another productive one for our Advocacy Team.
