Advocacy
The SEAPAX Advocacy Team needs your support! March is a busy month as we honor the founding of the Peace Corps by participating in civic action. On February 10th, the President proposed a $9.3 million cut in baseline funding for the Peace Corps for Fiscal Year 2021, providing only $401.2 million for the agency. This marks the fourth consecutive year the President has proposed cutting Peace Corps funding. While Congress has restored the proposed cuts for the past three, this means five years of flat funding for the agency. The National Peace Corps Association plans to make the case for $450 million, which adjusts for inflation and addresses additional spending needs.
SEAPAX is sending Erin Branigan and Jonathan Green as representatives to Washington, D.C. on March 5th for the 16th annual Capitol Hill Day of Action. You can participate by contacting your Congressional delegation. Click here to email your representatives (the website will identify your legislators)! If you would like to participate in visits to Washington State's federal legislator offices, please contact Beth Alhstrom.
