Advocacy
As we previously reported, although 156 House members signed a letter seeking $450 million in Fiscal Year 2022 for Peace Corps, President Biden proposed level funding ($410.5 million). In June, a "Dear Colleague Letter" was circulated throughout the Senate urging funding of at least $430 million. In total, 39 senators signed onto that letter, including WA's Senator Maria Cantwell. If you would like to write your legislators to show your support for Peace Corps, please follow this link. The SEAPAX Advocacy Team will continue to provide updates on Peace Corps-related legislation are currently in the works. Stay tuned for Peace Corps 60th anniversary events being planned for September by the National Peace Corps Association!
