Member Spotlight - Jonathan Green
What happens when one RPCV memoirist sits down (virtually) to interview another? Another great story, of course! In this month’s Member Spotlight, long-standing SEAPAX member Jonathan Green shares highlights of his career with guest columnist, Susan Greisen. Susan writes, “In every sentence of my interview, Jonathan’s words echoed commitment… One of his proudest experiences was seeing a reduction in malaria morbidity and mortality” as a result of his efforts as a Malaria Control Volunteer (Thailand, 1973-1975). Jonathan later served as HIV Outreach Volunteer in South Africa (2015-2017), where he cleverly leveraged the popularity of his village’s pool tournament to spread HIV/AIDS awareness. He then returned to malaria control as a Response Volunteer in Liberia (2017-2018).
Click below to read the full story about Jonathan, his 2019 memoir, Fighting Malaria on the River Kwai, and his inspiring Peace Corps service spanning 45 years.

Many thanks to Susan E. Greisen, RPCV Liberia, 1971-73 and Tonga, 73-74, the author of In Search of the Pink Flamingos, for this spotlight.

Advocacy
April will be a busy time for the SEAPAX Advocacy Team. We had our first congressional meeting with Rep. Strickland’s office last week in support of upcoming Peace Corps-related legislation and are planning three more in the coming weeks. If you would like to get involved in one of these meetings, we are still looking for a few more RPCVs who live in the following districts to join!
District 3 (Rep. Herrera-Beutler); District 4 (Rep. Newhouse); District 8 (Rep. Schrier).
Email Beth for more information.
